Belfast Met Q&A with Rebecca McKinney - Behind The Scenes
Hi everyone,
I recently got the opportunity to visit the Belfast Met E3 Campus, where I used to study when I was at the college. I was invited back to record a short Q&A video to be used as part of their marketing campaign for the upcoming academic year.
I was really excited because the Q&A was being hosted by Cool FM’s Rebecca McKinney! It was so cool to get to meet her and have the opportunity to be in front of the camera again!
I arrived at my old campus all bizz and refreshed my lipstick before heading back in, it was weird to be able to get a decent parking space for a change!
Heading back wouldn’t have felt weird at all if it wasn’t for all of the Covid modifications, there were hand sanitising stations, ‘One Way System’ signs, and the few people who were knocking about all had their masks on.
It was a strange contrast when I compare it to my memories of the cafe queue stretching through to the reception, and always bustling with businesspeople on short term courses, students carrying equipment and lecturers on their way to their classes.
I was met by Aimee from the Marketing Team, and was brought downstairs to the Gallery where I was able to get settled and practice my prepared answers during sound checks.
Rebecca came in about 30 seconds after I did and got settled as well, I was a little bit nervous to be filming opposite her because she’s a proper, professional presenter and I wanted to be on my A Game, although she was so lovely and quelled my nerves so I was able to just enjoy it!
After some more sound/camera angle checks we got filming and actually managed to get the thing done in one take! Rebecca was so friendly and gave me loads to bounce off so I was able to be at ease and the camera/sound team were happy with the first take.
As they were wrapping up and getting ready to move on to the next location with Rebecca, we were able to get chatting even more. She gave me loads of tips and advice for being in front of the camera and was super encouraging, she also very kindly agreed to feature in the Vlog I was filming about the shoot!
It was such a fun experience and getting the opportunity to meet Rebecca and chew her ear off was amazing, I really enjoyed it and am freshly motivated to make more video content again.
It gave me such a confidence boost and I was in great form for the rest of the day, I have loads of ideas for new videos and micro-vlogs so watch this space!
